One day I was invited to an event. A La Maison De France exhibited amateurs' photographies from France. At that time, I did not know that I was going to find a real microcosm, my future Monday microcosm. There is everything you need: a map of France, a globe, library... The teacher studied Economics in Bordeaux, very nice. She makes us travel in France, Australia, Belgium... She makes us travel in time, observing changes through time. And I noticed a change in myself: my French is coming back, little by little...
There is a wonderful little school of French in Tucson, where learning is fun... and the students are fabulous.
The teacher is very pretty, full of energy and she makes us laugh with her very lively French personality.
We sometimes leave the classroom to go to the teacher's house to learn and taste French cooking or to watch French films.
But what makes A la Maison de France so special is the people...
Great classes! Not the usual high school stilted French. The teacher really makes it fun to learn. I have been taking French with A la Maison de France for several months, and I strongly recommend this school!
I followed the literature course, where we read recent French novels in manageable weekly segments. I like the focus on what the French are writing right now. I also enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the excellent conversation. In college, languages came right behind math in terms of provoking anxiety. Here, the setting is very comfortable and the ideas expressed are always stimulating.
I have been enrolled for several years. Patricia is an extraordinarily gifted teacher and our class is fun and challenging. I've made a great deal of progress in speaking, understanding and reading, and it has been great doing this with others at the same level and seeing us make progress together. I found all of it fun - grammar, homework assignments. I recommend Patricia wholeheartedly.
I was worried that after many, many years, it would be intimidating to go back into the classroom to continue learning French. Patricia assured me that I would be surprised by what I remembered. She was right! Patricia's class is fun and supportive and her encouragement does indeed help me to remember much of what I learned years ago. I look forward to each class with great anticipation!
I encourage anyone interested in a fresh approach to learning French to join us. Either brushing up on skills, renewing a love of the language or starting as a new student, you will find learning stress-free and fun. Classes are small and students relaxed and friendly. This experience has added another dimension to my life! Join us and experience a new joie de vivre !
I have been taking a French literature class with Patricia for several years now, and I think it's fabulous. Patricia chooses books that are incredibly different from one another, but all are very moving and I would even venture to say life-changing. Patricia is witty and engaging, and she keeps our class discussions very lively. She has created a real spirit of camaraderie among the students in the class. In addition, I've taken part in a number of Patricia's trips and outings, and not only has each been much fun but also a great way to interact with others interested in deepening their understanding of French culture. I would highly recommend the courses and other opportunities offered by Patricia.
One of my best decisions was to attend classes with Patricia to rejuvenate my long ago schooldays French. The classes are small and intimate and Patricia is very skillful at engaging each and every one person in interactive French conversation. Patricia also organizes interesting, exciting and memorable events through the year - including trips to France. I tell all my friends about Patricia.
I have been taking French classes with Patricia for the past two years, and I am a big fan. I started with no knowledge of French, and Patricia's full immersion classes (that's right, no English) have taught me a lot. The classes are challenging - there's no way to learn a language without hard work - but Patricia keeps us laughing all the time. One thing important to me is that Patricia has the patience to correct my pronunciation errors as often as I make them, which fits my goal of being able to speak French like a native.
I loved Patricia from the first phone conversation we had. It was a phone-call-test which made me feel pretty good about what I remembered from my high-school French classes - and at the moment the questions got too difficult for me to answer - she knew exactly where to place me. I have been in that class for many years - the learning is constant and the friendships are a bonus!
We actually speak French in each and every class with Patricia, not simply memorizing but actually having to think through each response in French. Pretty amazing for someone who learned the language the "old way" the first time around. Now I understand very well and it's only a matter of time before all the speaking skills will emerge.
The relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the sessions makes the learning experience a pleasure. The small class size gives everyone an opportunity to participate. The work is well structured and lesson plans always thoroughly prepared. However, Patricia is also comfortable making a detour from the plan if something interesting and useful comes up.
In any given class session, there is a variety of types of activities. This makes the material accessible to every student, regardless of her or his learning style. It also helps spark interest.
Patricia also offers learning experiences beyond the classroom. Over the ten years that I have been taking classes with her, these have ranged from film screenings to ski trips and kitchen tastings.
My lessons with Patricia over the years have been like mini trips to France. Don't miss the opportunity.
French lessons with Patricia is the highlight of my week. I've learned more in a few sessions than I did in five years of high school French. Much more than verb conjugation, you'll learn to speak French a little more confidently with Patricia.
Patricia is the teacher to learn French from. She is a native speaker, fun, attracting interesting people as students, and teaching about France and French-speaking areas as they really are. Great events, exciting trips, never dull.
Interesting and energetic instructor, Patricia makes learning French lots of fun. I really enjoy the classes with Patricia.
Have you always wanted to learn to speak French? If the answer is yes, then sign-up for a class with Patricia. I did and it was one of the best decisions I made. Patricia provides excellent instruction and the classes are fun too! I have progressed from a beginner to an advanced student under the fine direction of excellent teaching. In addition to learning French, Patricia introduces students to French culture through a variety of activities. I've made lasting friendships and expanded myself at the same time. Thanks Patricia.
Patricia not only teaches the French language, she brings people together in friendship. It was my first introduction to French, and I have grown to have a real appreciation for the language and culture. The teaching techniques are with me today, and I continue to review what I have learned.
I first found Patricia because I had been sent to France for a story covering for the Daily News. I realized while I was there that my high school French wasn't going to cut it if I was going to stay on top of this big, international story. So, I enrolled in a weekly beginner's class with Patricia. By the time I returned to France for that same story, I was able to conduct all my interviews in French!
I am now in my eleventh year with Patricia. I no longer need the French language for my job, but I still continue to study it because I've made so many friends and have had so many valuable experiences with Patricia. Speaking French - and studying it with her - has become an integral part of my life!
I have enjoyed several types of experiences with Patricia's classes, parties, and private lessons. She is professional and delightful to work with, I highly recommend Patricia to students of all levels.
Patricia has been nothing short of extraordinary toward my conversational skills in the French language. This class continues to benefit both Arkema Company and myself, as I have been able to strengthen my relationship with my colleagues from Cerdato with my improved conversational skills. Personnally, Patricia has also shown extreme patience with me concerning my rudimentary background with the French language. The only thing Patricia demands is enthusiasm towards the French language and in return, I am receiving a first class education.
I have been taking lessons for several years from Patricia and can highly recommend her services. Because she well recognizes the needs of her industrial clients, she has always been accommodating to my dynamic and challenging schedule. Without this accommodation I would never have been able to continue any kind of commitment to my lessons. Another real advantage I find is Patricia's familiarity with corporations, the businesses, people and organization. She purposely utilizes this knowledge in her lessons to bring useful relevance each and every week. I have also taken advantage of her lessons to learn a lot about French culture and therefore our company's culture. This has been very helpful in preparation for numerous trips to the various regions of France and in better understanding.
Her professionalism always results in a full hour of class time and she never misses the chance to assign homework in order to reinforce what we learn in class. She has a well-balanced approach of pushing you to advance while showing understanding that you are trying to fit this in with the rest of your job responsibilities. She also offers numerous opportunities (dinners, French films, trips) outside of classes to interact with fellow students.
I have been taking French lessons with Patricia for several years and would highly recommend it.
I have taken group classes with Patricia and am now taking private lessons inside the company. We spend a large portion of each hour in conversation, which is very useful for me, since speaking and understanding spoken French are skills I need to improve. Our discussions cover a wide range of topics, from travel to health to pets. The instructor is good at asking questions to stimulate an interesting conversation that forces me to use a range of sentence structure and vocabulary. In most classes and in my homework, I also practice reading and writing, helping me to learn all of the fundamental skills required for command of a language. The instruction I've received is tailored to my level and needs.
My instructor never misses a class, and goes out of her to schedule a session on a different day, if either of us has a conflict. I believe Patricia is an excellent choice for French language instruction at the company.
I have particularly enjoyed developing friendships with other francophiles who share various interests outside classes with Patricia. A few of us have shared dinners where we spoke primarily in French - challenging and rewarding! Our instructor is very patient and encouraging. It is impossible not to say something in French during the class, and everyone tries hard to understand and respond, to build a conversation.
For many years I have taken classes with Patricia. Though my brain is slow I hope I make progress. I love the music of the language and my teacher helps me with that understanding. The camaraderie in class is also a big draw! We have fun while we are learning!
I have taken classes with Patricia for about four years. Patricia makes learning the French language a comfortable and enjoyable experience. In addition to the language instruction, we learn the French people and their culture. Since I have attended classes with Patricia, I have felt more comfortable traveling throughout France. It has made it easier to understand the language.
I have been studying French with Patricia for three years. I had French in high school, and now I am preparing for a big family trip to France. I enjoy my classes. Patricia is friendly and knowledgeable, and my classmates are very interesting. I am an advanced intermediate student. Each week, we read, speak, and write. We have parties, and the end of year celebration. Sometimes I watch French movies at Patricia's "ciné-club".
The program offered by Patricia is tailored to meet the needs of the individual student, which has worked well for me, as well as of groups' students. Patricia Le Foll has provided me with excellent instruction, she is professional and has met all of my expectations. In my opinion her classes are well run, she provides a fun and instructional approach to learning and should be high on our list concerning adding future classes and students to this program inside our company.
Patricia, I would like to thank you for the professional and personal way that you convey the learning of a language. I have been very comfortable and happy and think the benefactor of high quality learning through your efforts in teaching me Français. Your notes and lecture materials are very organized and constructed to build upon the lesson before.I find the material to quickly lend itself to conversation while maintaining the fundamental grammar and structure that are needed to properly build a competency.
You have helped me tremendously and although I have a long way to go, I feel I have the capability for understanding what I hear and an ability to pronounce properly - this enables supplemental learning with books and tapes, that I would not be able to do without the foundation you built. I have had the opportunity to learn Spanish, Latin and German over the years either through school or my work situation and your methods are quick to pay dividends. I also very much appreciate your teaching in that you know my pace, work on my skills and adjust the lesson to my needs. I also think you are demanding and follow your laid out schedule, so you keep a high expectation while balancing the areas I need help in; I can't get that from a tape on my own or from a large class at a night school, your approach is tailored perfectly for me.
Thank you for the instruction during the past couple of years. I have learned to speak French, and read it as well, under your tutelage. I have benefitted from your flexibility, in your willingness to focus on the areas I wish to develop (listening, for instance) while at the same time ensuring that my core skills (grammar) are not neglected. I also appreciate your willingness to work around my schedule and its constant changes.
I would recommend your class to a busy professional.
I have taken classes for almost two and a half years with Patricia Le Foll from A la Maison de France at our research center. Overall I am very satisfied with the instruction approach and the methodology followed in class to improve both my oral and written proficiency. I have realized significant improvements on my French skills and the class is always an opportunity to move forward and practice my communication skills through a pleasant conversation with the instructor.
I highly recommend Patricia, and I am sure that my opinion is shared by the multitude of students that have benefitted for interacting with her.
